Helping a winegrower, 2nd edition
Disappearing
Completely disconnected of the Grand Crus Classés, The traditional family wine-estates are disappearing from the Bordeaux landscape.
250 failures in the last 18 months, 21,000 hectares of uprooted vines since 2023, hundreds of farms for sale …
In august, I spoke my winemaker friend, Christophe Pont of Château Val Beylie, that delicious Bordeaux Supérieur, which we’ve been selling in the shop for years.
Despite this alarming situation, Christophe continue to cultivate his full-organic 15-hectare estate, his grandfather’s legacy, and to believe in the high quality of his Terroir.
But for how much longer ? We can help in short term:
As we did last year with Ancienne Mercerie, we want to purchase now 1.000 bottles, maybe more, so we can provide cash quickly to Christophe in order to fund his harvest 2026. Order now a set of wines, with a significant discount, receive delicious wine and support a lovely and talented winemaker.
How is Château Val Beylie 2022 ? A blend of 75% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, offering a deep and vibrant colour. Black fruits and spices on the nose, the palate is very balanced and the finish is fresh (minty). From the exceptional vintage 2022, This wine has a potential of ageing of 20 years.
